Position Overview:
The SFC Team Member/Cook is responsible for operating the fryers and wok station, ensuring the quality and consistency of our signature dishes, including our double-fried Korean-style chicken. This role requires careful attention to detail, maintaining proper cooking techniques, and ensuring the longevity of kitchen equipment. The Cook will be integral to delivering high-quality food to our guests, managing food preparation, and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain fryers, ensuring proper temperature and oil levels.
- Fry chicken and other products (onion rings, French fries, chicken katsu, potstickers, etc.) in accordance with recipes and the par chart to prevent overcooking.
- "Paint" or coat fried chicken according to recipe standards.
- Filter and clean fryers regularly to maintain efficiency and prolong their lifespan.
- Prepare and mix batter according to the recipe manual, ensuring accuracy in measurements.
- Batter and flour chicken according to established recipes, ensuring consistency.
- Ensure sufficient prepped chicken and other fried items for the shift.
- Package fried items properly for dine-in or takeout, following restaurant standards.
- Keep fryer and painting stations stocked with necessary supplies for each shift.
- Operate the wok and stove top, preparing dishes as outlined in recipes.
- Follow prep lists and recipe manuals to ensure food is prepped accurately and efficiently.
- Wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes and cooking equipment as needed to maintain kitchen cleanliness.
- Remove trash and transport it to the designated disposal area.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to stand or remain stationary for extended periods (8+ hours per shift).
- Flexibility to move between stationary positions frequently throughout the shift.
- Ability to move around the kitchen and restaurant continuously throughout the day.
- Capability to lift and transport items weighing up to 50+ pounds.
- Experience handling fryer baskets and kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Basic reading and writing skills to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
- Keen attention to detail, particularly in food preparation and equipment monitoring.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a quick-service restaurant or kitchen environment.
- Knowledge of food safety, fryer maintenance, and proper cooking techniques.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to cleanliness.
